Sorry to hear about the passing of Dusty. We shared many a joke and a laugh through the years from back in the "good old day's" at Moring's Garage and our working years together at Oshawa Transit. We swapped many an "embelished" hunting story always in good fun.Proud and honest, kind and humble, his family is a fine testiment to his and Rosemarie's values. He was a good man who served his country, family and fellow man well.

A good number of years ago our family visited Aunt Marie and Uncle Dusty's summer cottage on the lake. During several cups of coffee and talking about the area I asked Uncle Dusty how the fishing was in his lake. Not bad he said, but I could take you and Alan, your brother, to a secret spot where the "fishin' "is real good. I looked over at Alan and said "What do you think?". Alan said "let's go". Most of you know Uncle Dusty's background, in part, was growing up in country surroundings. He became an accomplished hunter and fisherman. You might say both were a way of life for him. Well, he pulled together some fishing gear, bait, and packed us "CITY SLICKERS" in the car and off we went. It wasn't long until we stopped along a quiet country road. As Uncle Dusty would do, he told us to pick up the rods and don't forget the bait and follow him. So we headed into a wooded area and walked a considerable distance. Are you sure we're going the right way I asked? Now, that is NOT a question you ask Uncle Dusty. We came to an opening and there it was - a secluded fishing pond. To our surprise, Dusty pointed to a small row boat near the shore line. Uncle Dusty told us to climb in, and we rowed out to the middle of the pond. By then, the coffee we drank earlier started to kick in and we were a good 10 minutes from shore. I told my uncle I had to "pee" real bad. Of course, Uncle Dusty, being the tough guy that he was, told me to hold on until we finished fishing OR or just stand up and go off the back of the boat". I replied "No way! the boat is too tippy, and I can't wait!" So with that, Uncle Dusty handed me a large tin can and said, "Here - fill this" By now, my brother Alan was breaking up. What else could I do? I knelt down and started to go in the tomato can. However, I filled up the can and still wasn't finished. So I had to pollute the lake and empty the can and proceeded to fill it again! By then, it seemed I had been "peeing" forever and Uncle Dusty and Alan were laughing so hard they were crying, and almost flipped the boat. You had to be there. The fishing was great, caught a few big ones and we eventually made it to shore. This eventful afternoon was one to remember. We know Dusty never forgot it. It is during sad occasions such as today, remembering people just like Uncle Dusty, we recall with fond memories, the best of times. I managed to visit my uncle a few months ago and was glad I did. When it was time to leave he stood up from his lazy boy chair and gave me a hug. Melvin, he said, you turned out to be a good, good man. That moment will stay with me for a long long time. To Gary, Cindy, Mark, Rory, and my dear Aunt Marie We are thinking of you and send you our sympathy. God Bless Mel and Audrey Densham Calgary, Alberta.
