Obituary of Donald C. Christie

Dr. DONALD C. CHRISTIE Peacefully, after a lengthy hospital stay, on Thursday, July 31, 2008, at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Bowmanville, at age 86. Don Christie of Port Perry, beloved husband of the late Grace (nee Demara). Cherished father of Carole Christie of Whitby and Miriam Christie of Oshawa. Dear brother of Mac Christie (deceased) and his wife Joan, Fred Christie (deceased) and his wife Ruby, and John Christie (deceased) and his wife Yvonne (deceased). Predeceased by his parents Grant and Lillian Christie. He will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. The family of "Doc" Christie will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, "McDermott Panabaker Chapel", 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985 2171) on Sunday, August 3rd from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. A Service to Celebrate his life will be held in St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 319 Queen Street in Port Perry on Monday, August 4th at 11 a.m. with Reverend Helen Hartai officiating. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Albert. Don graduated from Ontario Veterinary College in 1943 and practiced large animal medicine for 53 years. Many, a country mile was traveled attending to horses and their "wee colties" and herds of cattle. His family, friends, and former clients will miss his colourful stories and his common sense approach.
