To Anne`s family and friends I was graced to know Anne as a church deacon and her ward councillor for the Township of Scugog since 1985. Returning from my annual summer retreat on Wolfe Island I was shocked and saddened to hear of her passing. She was a well respected community leader for those who are vulnerable and marginalized. She spoke her truth to power in church and community circles. She embodied the phrase, `the call of the Christian is to afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted. Thank you Anne and in your memory let us rededicate our efforts to help the most vulnerable and marginalized in our midst. To her family and friends my condolences Larry Corrigan Ward 1 Councillor Township of Scugog

We don't know really where to begin, but Ron and I are clients of the food bank where we met Anne...she was one of God's Angels on earth we're sure...she had a heart of gold...Ron was one of her buddies who removed garbage bags that she would have ready to be taken to the depot and we always said that if there was anything we could do for her just to call...she treated people all the same...we were never left with an impression that because we needed help, that we were of lesser good, we were all as one...to her family, our thoughts and prayers are with you... Dear Margaret, Jack and Andrea, I was most shocked to learn of Anne's passing! Why it seems like only yesterday that we were over at your family home, learning how to bake, sew and decorate our rooms through the 4-H girls club that Anne lead. And before that, the 2nd Port Perry Girl Guides that Anne was involved with, teaching the girls how to tie knots, how to organize their camping expeditions, living the motto "Be Prepared". I was a Girl Guide, achieving my cords, then I became a leader, alongside Anne. With our weekly meetings, camping trips and community visits, I became fast friends with Anne. Her quick wit and dancing eyes, I will always remember her. I saw Anne, accompanied by Andrea in Toronto this past spring. I was on my way to a theatre production at the Princess of Wales theatre. The two of you were walking towards me, and as my brain tried to put name to face, it was too late. You were already by me and lost in the crowd. I was pleased to see the two of you, though, and it brought all of these wonderful memories back of my youth in Port Perry, where Anne was a very large part of my life. Take care of yourselves and each other. Belinda Espley & family

I am shocked to hear of Anne's passing. I moved from the area four years ago but recently saw a picture of Anne accepting a donation for her beloved food bank. I had the pleasure of working with Anne on the Operation Food Bank Second Hand Sale. She was a true dynamo who gave everything she had to make life better for everyone around her. When she saw a need, she found a way to fill it. When I was leaving, Anne was so nice to give me a going away present. We had a few pleasant words about Holland and I went on my way thinking she would go on forever. I guess that is not realistic but she gave off that kind of feeling. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time of loss but remember that you will see her again. She will be there to meet you with that great smile. Cynthia Kocot

Dear Wanninkhof family, I was so sorry to hear about Ann's passing. She will be dearly missed. One of my fondest memories of Ann was her involvement in organizing the Community Care needy family Christmas drive. She worked so hard to make sure so many families who were less fortunate had a wonderful Christmas. Volunteering with Ann on that project became a tradition with our family and it is one that holds very fond memories. God bless you during this difficult time. Andrea Carnegie Kassem

The community will miss Anna's involvement and her friends will miss her. I am one of those from aquafit class in Uxpool who over the years laughed with her, commiserated about our aches and pains but most of all appreciated her compassion for people and her selfless dedication to making other peopl's lives brighter. Monday was a saddened group when we heard the news.

It is with sadness that we have learned of Anne's passing. Our condolences go out to the families of Margaret, Jack and Andrea. Your Mom gave so much of her time, energy and expertise, to helping others. She will always be remembered as one who put others first and herself last. Her knowledge of the needs of others in the community, made her a first contact when helping others. What a legacy she leaves in the Social Service field. Ron's Mom and Dad, Violet and Denis, had great respect for Anne, as she was a hard worker and had great expertise as a business woman. She will be sadly missed in the community and region for all her caring and assistance. With all our sympathy! Ron and Diane

Dear Margaret, Andrea and Jack, I was so sorry to hear that your mother had passed; very little time goes by when I don't think of her. It has been 25 years since we worked together at Durham and she was my rock when I was there. She was a special friend and colleague. Words are never enough at times like this but I will always remember her pragmatic sense of community and her kindness. Always a mother hen, she was dedicated to you, her family, her friends (so many) and her community. I wish I could be there to honor your Mother on Thursday, but know, I will always carry a bit of her integrity, her family values and her great sense of life itself. Ann you have taught us much over the time we have known you . . .

What a loss for everyone. Your Mom was such very very special lady who always put others before herself. Your Mom will always be remembered either from the many many times she was in the paper for something she had accomplished for the food bank or from the laughter she provided when she would come to either paint or do a basket or two over the years. From Herb and Ina LeGard, Tom and Sherry Whiteway and Carl and Wendy Leszkowicz and our families

Dear Andrea and Family. I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom, my thoughts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time. (The Final Flight) Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free, I'm following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard his call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I've found that peace at the end of the day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah, yes, these things too I will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My Life's been full, I savoured much, Good friends, good times, a loved one' touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now, He set me free.
