I had the pleasure of knowing Gord since grade 2 when I met Mike Reneau. Gord to me was a spark plug, I don’t know how to describe it but he was one of those people who’s presence you could feel in the room. It was like his brain was on high idle at all times and you could feel it in his presence. High idle described a lot of what Gord did in my observation, from his jaunty walk to meals finished in record time!! I can remember having many meals at the Reneau house. I would be just part way into my meal, only to look up to see Gord with his tooth pick out and an empty plate!! Of course Mike was done just as fast and Doris would tell me she was just happy to see someone take their time and enjoy. My condolences to Doris, Mike, Doug and the clan on this day from Rob, Julie, Joe Sylvia and all the Minialoff’s.

Doris and family ... we grew up in Port Perry, and although I was one of the younger kids in the neighbourhood we all belonged and were part of the community. Our parents had businesses downtown that further made us of the community. We both moved on, left Port Perry. And we have met again. I'd heard a bit about Gord's life and accomplishments but really had no idea of what a good citizen he was ... service wherever he was. My most memorable discussion with him at PP United Church was about music. He loved to sing, he said, but he wasn't good at it ...but it didn't stop him from belting the hymns out !!!! Wonderful! My sympathy to you and your family on the loss of a truly great man ... citizen, husband, father, friend, relative, and more ... Sincerely from the corner of Lilla and McDonald/North Streets ... Dear Doris and family: I was saddened when I read in today's Globe of the death of your husband and dad and -- although it was about 47 years ago -- a dear neighbour and friend to my late wife, Jean, our sons, Steve, Brian, and Bruce, and me -- at 13 Herne Hill. I vividly remember those very happy days. I am so sorry for your irreplaceable loss. Please permit me to convey my most profound and heartfelt sympathy. Wes Dunn

To Doris, Mike, Doug and the rest of the Reneau Clan, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Gordie was a character and a half (he'd have to be to put up with the boys). He will always have a special place with me. My sincerest condolences for your loss.
