You are all this and much more
You were there when I called with medical questions. You could heal us from afar.
You were always happy to see me, you open your door and fed me.
I will miss you terribly, a hole in my heart will remain until we meet again.
In your name I will be making a donation to the Boquete Health and Hospice. A non profit, all volunteer oranization in my mountain town of Panama.

Marie Meyer posted a condolence

I met Linda when she was hired as the first official night emergency nurse at Community Memorial Hospital Port Perry 1988; now known as Lakeridge Health Port Perry. Before her arrival the designated charge nurse was responsible for any emergency that came through the old north eastern emergency doors. I for one was happy to have the "newbie" take over and glad to back her up when needed.
Over a short period of time Linda and I became friends, socializing, travelling together and becoming comfortable enough to confide in one another. I marveled at the experiences she had in remote Ear Falls in northwestern Ontario where she often worked without benefit of a doctor. Later in her career she worked on a casual basis in Port Perry and occasionally flew once again to the north to nurse again. I would tease her via e-mail questioning whether she was crazy or incredibly brave working and living in such harsh weather conditions. The conclusion was a bit of both.
She was so proud of her three children as they all cut their own paths in life. She was delighted by all of her grandchildren. Loved her husband Ralph, without a doubt. She enjoyed sewing and crafts and was a fearless, compassionate and well educated nurse who obviously loved her profession.
Linda was a loyal friend. I once told her I would like to meet a biker/rough and tough/ Teddy bear kinda guy because I needed a good euchre partner...what were the odds? So 23 years ago this month I was invited to supper and to play euchre at Ralph and Linda's. I was introduced to Vern who is my euchre player for life. We married in 2003!
I recall Linda's cautionary warning "I'll make the introduction. The rest is up to you two." To that all I can say is well done Linda. We will be forever grateful and will miss you.
Deepest sympathy and hugs to family. R.I.P. dear Linda,
Your friend eternally,
Marie Meyer

We met Linda & Ralph in the early seventies, before Tracey was born. We followed their story from Devin to Ear Falls and eventually to Port Perry. With us in Oshawa for 6 years we got to have tea often. I will miss you so much. Ralph all our prayers go to you and the children. May God bless you all. Linda, good bye my friend.
