I was shocked and saddened by hearing of the passing of my Uncle Doug. My deepest condolences to his immediate family and other relatives. I have many fond memories of Doug and his brothers and sisters at the times of celebrations like Christmas at the family farmhouse in Pickering. Many laughs and good times were had by Doug and his siblings. All the nieces and nephews will miss him greatly. Memories are a wonderful thing because you can live them over and over again unlike real life. Treasure them all, in the end it is all that is left. The good times. I remember a time many decades ago now when Uncle Doug stopped by our house on firecracker day. We were just kids at the time lighting fire works and throwing them in the air. One landed by Uncle Doug's shoe and we yelled watch out. Instead of walking away he started to jump up and down over top of it and when it went off it burned a hole in his pants. Did not seem funny at the time but he took it all in stride, after he gave us heck, and walked away laughing. The farm and the business was a true family affair with Nana and Grampa and all their children participating. So many fond memories that I would not trade a single one of them for anything. R.I.P. Uncle Doug you lived a long and eventful life......
