Bill Cohoon was a great man, I admired and respected his abilities and character. He could talk about anything, and was so interested in whatever was being discussed, but most of all, I will miss his energy and wonderful sense of humour. My family has been lucky to have him as a Doctor and a friend, we will surely miss him.q9jb7

My deepest sympathy for Whitney, Zack, Logan , Tallara, Aaron, Ceilidh and the entire family. I had the privilege of working with Dr. Bill Cohoon and his contribution to his many patience and the community and his active support for the Port Perry hospital. During my 19 years as MPP for Durham Bill was a strong and effective voice. I had heard from Zack and other friends some time ago that Bill was not well,
God bless you Whitney as you journey on in the strong family tradition.
PS. I am unable to attend the memorial service as that day is our family Christmas get together.

I have a great photo of Bill throwing me up in his arms as he was about 15 or so and myself about 5 and we were playing football or rather my childish version of it. This was up in the old farm where we went to visit Auntie Eddie and Uncle Bill.
Always a good talk with him and my Dad Reg. However, he has left a lovely big family to carry on his knowledge and skills and I wish them all the best and I hope you have a good big wake for Bill as he would enjoy that.
Sincerely,
Cousin Lynn Thomas Hanley
Now living in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Ann and I join with those of us who were blessed by the friendship of this iconic figure, and his beloved wife Whitney in mourning the loss of just Bill. As I have written many times the real payback from public service is from the positive relationships formed with the community builders in our Township. Dr. Bill was a man for all seasons. He was comfortable and skiiled in the oerating room, as he was on an tractor in his fields or in the political arenas with the power brokers or with Whitney at the annual Port Perry fair playing with the urban chidren and the farm animals. We are indebted to Bill and his fellow visionaries who laid the foundation for the five star medical services we have in this community. We send our deepest condolences to Whitney and their family

For everything you did for our family, our parents, Skip and myself, all of our children and our grandchildren, thank you Bill. Though you were happiest out on a tractor in a field, you were the finest doctor we encountered in our lives. Thank you so much. Blessings to Whitney and the family. Port Perry and the medical profession weeps this day.

In a small town you never expect to encounter a giant, but Bill was such a man. Kind, gentle but always forthright he was one of the finest men I knew. He cared for my parents, bringing my mother through cancer when it was a killer, cared for my dad through a heart attack, delivered my girls, and looked after me when I came home from Sunnybrook after a terrible car accident. He was not just our doctor, he was our friend.
My heart goes out to the entire family, please find comfort in each other and that Bill was so well regarded in his field...

I never met Dr Cohoon. My husband and I settled here in Port, just south of the Cohoon farm in 1993. We raised our 3 children here and have enjoyed a wonderful family life in this town. And what I do know is that many of the things we have enjoyed are in large part due to the efforts of Dr Cohoon.
My condolences to Mrs Cohoon and all your many family members. Thank you for sharing him with us.

Dear Cohoon family,
I'd like express my condolence and deep regrets for your loss and share where I found comfort and hope at such a time as this when I lost my family to our enemy death. I found this in what I read in Jehovah Gods word the Bible at John5:28,29 for there we're told we'll see our love ones again in the resurrection when Jesus brings them back here on earth and at Isaiah25:8 we're told this enemy death will be swallowed up forever. These scriptures along with others help me cope with my loss and get through each day because now I know I'll see my love ones again and so can you. I wanted to share this with you now when comfort and hope is needed hoping that this will help you also in some way for this is my purpose in sharing this with you at this time and please know that I do share your grief and hope you'll feel free to let me know if this helped. Hoping to hear from you. Sincerely, GM

Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing Dr. Cohoon.
Bill was a real character and I will always remember, fondly, my times around the Cohoon household where he could always be counted on for some good natured ribbing - usually at my expense.
I hope you all are well and are able to navigate your way through this difficult time together during Christmas.
