Barbara, We were sorry to learn of George's passing and our thoughts are with you. As soon as I told John, he recalled their conversations as they rode the wagon together on one of Keith's rides. I was on the sorrel Arab that was so full of spit and vinegar, but of course we have ridden together many times. Kind regards, Karen

Festeryga Kids Hearing of your father's passing brought many memories to my mind. Joe and I watched lots of pictures of the past when we were kids. Playing at your house and our at Peacock Point. We all looked so happy and having fun together. I guess your dad will be with all the other fathers now, telling tales and l can just hear your Dads amazing laugh. Peace to you all Margaret

To Barbara and Family: Our condolences to you all with the passing of your Dad and our loved colleague. We are both in Edmonton and unfortunately cannot be there for the service Saturday, which makes us both very sad. George had a heart of gold, loved sport and everyone associated with it. Our time at Sport Canada is full of fond memories, a few tricks, some beautiful singing, many jokes and even more stories told with passion and a hearty laugh. George will be a lasting memory for a large portion of the sport population! Our regards, Pat and Joanne

I was saddened to hear from Roger Champagne of the recent passing of George. In our work together over many years at Sport Canada George was always there to discuss ideas and provide sage advice to his younger colleagues and for this, we remain forever grateful. Thinking of you, Barbara and family at this difficult time.

Tony, my mom just informed me of the sad news. Though it's certainly been a long time since I saw your father (was it running after Gary and Jim down the hall of Riviera Gates?!) I know that his passion for sports, particularly football, had a great influence on your life. Go Tiger Cats Go! My sincere condolences to you and your family on the passing of your dad.

Barbara and Family... It was with sadness that I heard from my sister Irene in Hamilton today that George had passed away. You may recall the laughs we recently shared at the Sherman/Barton reunion in Hamilton, especially when George destroyed the myth that MY baby carriage was passed on to Bill and revealed the carriage was in fact passed from George to his sister and then to ME before Bill got it. George, as you all know was a great guy. I well remember his playing high school football for Tech when he received the nickname One-Yard George as he was unstoppable. Our families go back a very long time and it is with regret that we pass the torch to the following generations. With kind thoughts.. Walter T. Stayshyn ( presently in California).

While lunching with Peter Lesaux today he advised me that George had died and there was a notice in the Ottawa Citizen which I had missed as I subscribe to the Globe & Mail. I was saddened to hear of George's passing -- I have fond memories of the weekend spent at your Port Perry home and I remember George as being an entertaining and very interesting host. His love for you, for his horses and the ranch was evident. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time and I know that you will take comfort from the fact he is at peace, his suffering is over and he's in a better place. Please accept my condolences. Eleanor Dunn
