Although I only met your mom once Debbie (at your 50th party) she was so full of life and appeared to enjoy every moment and every person she met. My thoughts are with you and your brother. Again, if you need anything, I'm not far away. Laura

Our sincere condolences to Debbie and Steve. Jo will be deeply missed by all who knew her. I remember her positive way of thinking and acceptance of whatever life dealt out. My fondest memories of course are at the Rockport cottage, when Sonny and Jo would come for the weekend with my cousins in tow. Uncle Sonny and Dad would be on the River at the crack of dawn trolling for the big one and coming home with at least five or six pike. There are many pictures of Jo and Sonny posing with the fish. Jo and mom would be cooking the eggs and bacon while you and I were out hunting bear in the woods. The late night parties gathered by the fireplace. Of course the annual boxing day get togethers and aunt Jo's delicious spreads and the best fruit cake in the world. Doug does not have access to this site, but his memories of course are at Randal and Marlena when they visited often back and forth for Sinatra marathons. Your mom shouting Doug, "Hit It". and Hit it they did as these days were the wonderful fun filled moments in your Mom and Dad's Lives. Great times and thanks for the memories.

Jo..Thank you for being such a wonderful mother-in-law. You always made me feel so welcome anytime I would come by to see you. When the boys were young we would come by and visit you and Sonny and how the both of you would light up when you saw your grandsons! We loved staying over for a few days ,Adam and Eric always had such fun with Gramma & Gramps. Adam snuggling up with Gramps in his chair and Eric with you in your chair down in the family room....great memories. Just this past Christmas I dropped by to see you and you thanked me so many times for coming by to see you. Always thankful. You talked about missing Sonny but also about how accepting you were about ...as you said when my time is up...its up...those were your words. You were looking forwarding to dancing with Sonny again. Jo you are missed by so many. Love Ellie

It is with great sadness and loss we hear of my Auntie Jo’s passing. An era and generation are gone. This sadness is tinged with many smiles and a feeling of thankfulness that her life has been mingled with mine for something like 65 years. I first met Jo before she married my Uncle Sonny. They lived with us in the little house on Westlake after they were married and before they moved to the wilds of Scarborough. As a little boy Auntie Jo taught me to dance (and boy could Sonny and Jo dance! ). Sonny and Jo took me fishing to Frenchman’s Bay and Lake Scugog. Throughout all the years of weddings, funerals and countless parties I never heard my Aunt say an mean thing about anyone. She was always supportive, non judgmental and above all kind. There is a void but also a satisfaction that Auntie Jo touched and enriched so many lives. To Debbie and Steve and all the famil heartfelt condolences from me and Yvonne. Jo was one of a kind and irreplaceable. Love Arthur and Yvonne

Debra and Steven, Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of your dear Mom Jo. You do not likely know me, but my husband Harry Groome and I when we married in June l955 were fortunate to rent the upstairs of your parent's cozy home at 42 Randall Cres.in Scar. We lived there for 18 months. I have only wonderful fond fun filled memories of Sonny and Jo........Debra ( or Debbie as I knew you) you were a darling little toddler perhaps about 18 mos or 2 yrs with the dark brown eyes when we moved in. The next summer we announced we were expecting; so Sonny and Jo decided as your Mom so sweetly said" we might as well have two of them crying at the same time" thus Steven you arrived. Not sure if you were before or after our Patti her b-day is Jan. 18th. The two of you in the same playpen out under the trees. I have so many lovely stories I recall about a wonderful loving and fun couple. Yes, I can see Jo and Sonny dancing to Sinatra. Attended a few great parties in your parent's rec. room with Bill and Lois next door.Recall the neighbours also, Grepes and Lees.. Hope this little note helps to ease the loss of Sonny and Jo..

I remember Jo and Sonny when we lived next door on Randall Cres. in Scarborough. Jo with her dark hair was a pretty woman and she always welcomed my sister Janet and me, as teenagers, into her kitchen for a visit. I also well remember all the Frank Sinatra records she and Sonny had in their living room. I've often thought back to those long ago days (mid to late 50's) and wondered where Jo and Sonny moved to. I'm glad they had such a good life with happy family times. Our condolences go out to Debra and Steven who we remember as very young children.

Dear Auntie Joe So many wonderful memories with you at the cottage and when I stayed with you and uncle Sonny when my parents went on vacation. You had such a big heart and always so full of life. Laughter was always part of our days and you just knew how to make people feel safe and loved. You have always been an inspiration to me. Although you are with your soul mate now and dancing in heaven Auntie Joe, a saddness remains in my heart cause you are not here. I am sure your star will be the brightest shinning down on us for some time. Love you so much and already miss you terribly. Love Kimmy xoxoxoxo
