I will always remember Esther calling me "her little sister" because her little sister and I were born the same year. When she went to heaven after being on the earth such a short time, some of her clothes were given to me. I remember Esther's car getting stuck in a snow drift by Butler Hall when I was in college. I pushed her out and got greasy dirt all over my dress. Esther told me to clean it with margarine and then wash it. Sure enough, all the grease and grime came out of it! I remember her scrubbing one of the floors in Wesley Hall that seemed almost ruined with the amount of tar that had been tracked in. Esther patiently scrubbed every spot with bacon grease until the tile was perfectly clean. Esther so much wanted to live long enough to hold and enjoy her little grandson. God granted her request. He also granted her the opportunity to care for her husband as long as he needed her. Our condolences go to Andrew and family. These past few months have been very difficult for them and we weep with them but do not sorrow without hope. May you be sustained at this Christmas season.

Dear family of Esther, I can say Esther was one of the sweetest girls I`ve ever known. It was my privilege to speak to her a couple of times recently. It is wonderful to know she is without pain. May God grant comfort and His sweet peace to each of you. My deepest sympathy to each one. Heaven is richer. Love, Linda Devers

I share in the sadness of loss, as Esther was like a sister to me; yet it is a comfort to think of her gain. Memories of good times in her home will remain with me, and I am one of many who were blessed by her life and will long remember her kindness. I remember practicing for a piano duet together, singing together, enjoying her good cooking, playing games and enjoying little Andy together. I will miss our wonderful phone visits a lot, and look forward to the day when there will be no more parting. Our hearts go out to Andy and Kaleb, and we pray the comfort of the Comforter be yours.

Esther was always such a pleasant person to be around. I roomed with her in the dormitory in Colorado Springs. I don't remember her ever getting upset over anything. Years later my parents were pastoring in Canada and we went to visit them. George and Esther invited us for supper. Our third baby, Charles was about the same age as Andy. I have a picture of them sitting on the couch together. That was such a special evening. May God be with the rest of the family at this hard time.

My first memories of Esther are of us playing together before either of us had started school. Esther always had a heart sensitive to God and eager to respond to His will for her life. It was a joy to be in Canada when she and George welcomed the arrival of Andrew into their home. May God bless him and his wife Ilene for their loving care of Esther during her illness. May they find the comfort which only God can give them throughout the coming days. Our prayers will be with them and with little Kaleb.

Esther, I considered was one of my best friends in school. She always stood for the right. After we were married, Alan & I moved to the dean's apartment where Esther was assigned to come to help me every day for a short time when baby Angela was born. Esther was very loving with our new little baby. Years later, Esther lived with her Mother in Vineland NJ. There a young man from Canada began visiting her. Alan performed his first wedding when he united Esther and George in marriage. Esther was a blessing when she was able to come to Tollesboro. Her testimony was always victorious and she expressed that she loved the Lord so much.
