Our condolences go out to Miss Young's family, as she left such an impression on our entire family. Her sense of humour made teaching memorable and interactive for the children, and her personality was truly one of a kind. She was an inspiration and a leader and we will always remember her as a friend. She was an inspiration for everyone to always strive to be the best person that they could be and made others around her believe in themselves. She touched the lives of everyone she met. We will miss you, The Aggelonitis Family

I can still hear her wonderful laugh and smell the coffee. Miss Young was such a wonderful teacher and an inspiring person for me to know as I began grade 6 at Quest School back in 1982. I remember her so fondly and how she managed to make each of her lessons come alive. One french class she handed out french perfume samples to the girls (what a thrill!). Food was always a great hook into learning with Miss Young. She even helped us to plan and run a french cafe at school. Although I am so sad to hear of her illness and recent death, wishing that I had crossed paths with her again recently to tell her that I, too had become a teacher who loved to greet new learners and learn along with them; I will continue to think of her often. What a wonderful person she was! Marnie Cockburn Port Moody, BC

It is with heavy heart and soul that I pen this letter. I was Annie's teacher at King Edward School in Windsor. We were friends and I felt that I was her Father away from home. Annie came to me and requested a tryout with our school track team. She was a skinny little girl in grade 5 with little athletic ability. Her chances of making the team were small. I timed her in a 100 yd. dash and she was agonizingly slow. I gave Annie an alternative. "How about becoming a High Jumper"? Annie took up the challenge. I taught her the "Straddle". A new technique that was sweeping the Track and field world at that time. Annie and I met everyday at 8 A.M. and began a long and difficult series of High Jump practices to perfect her "Straddle" technique. I set out a rigorous exercise routine for Annie that involved running up and down flights of stairs at school and at her home on the weekends. She even carried a bag of sand over her shoulders to help build up her skinny little legs. I have never, in all my teaching career, seen a child with so much "Gumption" and "Stick-To-It-ivity" . Annie made herself into a top-notch High Jumper. She became So Good that I decided to enter her in BOTH Junior and Senior High Jump Competitions. I was the proudest surrogate father/coach in Canada when Annie won both events and took home the Blue Ribbons and a special trophy. Annie was a unique person. She gave freely of herself to her family, friends, and her students. She made Canada a better place with her love and devotion. When Annie became a Principal. I visited her and presented Reading/Writing Workshops in her schools. Annie visited my wife and I at our summer cottage near Parry sound and we had many wonderful moments reminiscing about King Edward School and her days as a Track Star. Annie Young was a wonderful young Lady and she has enriched my life and the lives of her students ten fold over. I will miss her So Much! God Bless you Annie Young. With love and respect. Anne Young, or "Miss Young", as we called her, was one of my favourite teachers. At Quest Centre, she taught us French, but more than that, she was someone I trusted and had fun with. I still remember the "Finishing School" module she facilitated (it was offered in lieu of phys ed, since we had no gym that year). I don't recall what exactly she taught us in that module, but I know I chose it just because she was teaching it. She took our Senior Class on a trip to Bruce Beach, which is still incredibly memorable for me. I got to know the other students and her a little better there, and came out of my shell. Recently, on Facebook, a Quest Centre School group was formed, and her name came up a few times, as people remembered her and wondered where she was these days. I know many Quest students really liked her. I remember her as a non-judgemental, creative and caring teacher. I was so sorry to hear about her illness and passing.
