Our family in Hamilton, have just heard of Mac's passing in February. He was a very dear friend of our Aunt Jean Weir, and he visited us very often over the years. We always enjoyed visiting with him and we were sorry to hear of his passing although he had told us that he was sick. We will miss his quiet charm and his sweet sense of humour. RIP, Mac, love your friends in Hamilton.

My Dear Mr. MacTavish...A gentle man who loved his family, enjoyed his friends from 40 Delisle Avenue and, of course, fine classical music, flowers and tennis. What can I say, you have left a mark on all of us and the words that best fit is a quote from Helen Keller "What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes part of us." Helen Keller Until we meet again my good friend, Carolyn Wallis

Mr MacTavish was my late father's roommate at Baycrest Hospital. He always gave a wave and a kind word as we visisted with my Dad. I learned of his love for music as he would put on his blue blazer and off he would go to a concert at the hospital. I only knew Mr MacTavish for 5 weeks but quickly realized he was a wonderful man. Condolences to the family.

We were saddened to learn on our return from vacation of Mac's passing. We lived above Mac at 40 Delisle. I (Phyllis) miss terribly coming home in the afternoon to find him holding court in the lobby with all his lady friends. He was such a charming, lovable man. Our deepest sympathies to Mac's family.

I lived at 40 Delisle Avenue in Toronto and met Harold fairly often, usually in the lobby. I really enjoyed speaking to him. He was a wonderful, positive person. He told me he was sick about a year ago. I am very glad to have known him and will pray for him. I will miss him. John.

Harold and I taught at Lord Dufferin School when I started teaching in 1960. He was a great mentor and friend and we shared some wonderful times together. It is always sad when we lose touch as we did but even more difficult to realize that Harold has gone. I am honoured to have known him and cherish the memories of our times together. He was a kind and warm and caring man. Bon Voyage Harold, Jeannette

Mr.MacTavish was my teacher at Lord Dufferin Public School in 1957. Here was a man who cared about his job and mostly the students. I got ill in 1957 and was confined to stay at home for some time. During that time, he came over to my apartment in Regent Park and made sure that I would not fall behind in my studies. This helped me to proceed to high school that next year. I will never forget that gratitude that he showed to me, which proved that he was truly a teacher. I hope that former students of that year will attend his memorial - I know for sure that I will be there to honour him. Good night Mr. MacTavish. Thank you for being gthere. George Ingram

Mr. McTavish was a kind and gentle man. We got to know and love him in the two months we visited our husband and dad each day for just over two months that they were room-mates at Baycrest. Our condolences, The Timgren Family.

I was saddened to hear of Harold's death this morning.I taught with him at Lord Dufferin PS in Toronto and also travelled with him and Mac White in Europe in 1958--we had a great time travelling in our VW mostly in France and Germany--our trip was cut short by a few days as a result of an accident on the autobahn between Munich and Baden Baden--I remember that Harold lost at least one tooth at that time--we parted ways in a small town called Ulm--Harold returned to Canada and Mac went back to Britain where he was best man at the wedding of Jock Armitage. For many years Harold was part of a group of friends who met at Grey Cup and Christmas parties----Harold was always interested in our lives and travels when we chatted on the phone--he was a good friend and he will be missed. I will be in Florida until the 15th of April and am so sorry not to be able to attend his memorial service-sincerely--daisy
