Nancy, Scotty and the entire Dressel family, I was sad to here the news of Rich's passing. Growing up as a neighbor to the Dressels in Skippack, PA. I have many great memories of Rich. Scott and I were closest of friends but the whole family always treated me like family. Rich was like a big brother, and sometimes he treated me as the bratty little brother. I have no bad memories of Rich and he even came to my rescue on occasions, several to be exact. Well as Rich new and the rest of the Dressels will remember I can talk for ever. So to keep this short, "just a wish of peace to you all". You are all in my thoughts. With Love, Dave Alderfer

I worked with Rich at BAE Systems until I retired in 2006 when I was almost 63. As I age and reflect back on life during good times and bad, I think of the people I have met that exemplified the ideals and values that are important in life. Love of family, showing kindness to others, and commitment to doing your best in whatever the endeavor are some of these ideals. Almost from the first time I met rich I knew he had these qualities. The light of his life was his Family and he was always anxious to see them no matter how close or far away they were. The Lord said to love your neighbors as yourself, I am sure the Lord is pleased with Rich.

Nancy, Scott and family. I am very sorry to hear that we lost Rich a few days ago. He has been in my thoughts a lot since he left BAE. He was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed by his friends and co-workers. I worked with Rich at BAE and got to know him more through his hiking with Chuck which I sometimes joined in on. Rich helped me out a few times on previewing a hike for our hiking club. He was a good leader, always pleasant and kind and very appreciated. At work I would stop by Rich's desk now and then where he had pictures of his family, and he would tell me about Scott and how he was doing. He was very proud of his son and looked forward to the times he had with his family. I know it's hard for us because he is not with us on earth anymore, but I know that he is with us in spirit and we will see him again one day.

To Richards Family and Friends, I wish to express my condolences to you in the loss of Richard. I had the privlege and pleasure of knowing Rich for the past 6 years and consider him a true friend. He was courageous to the end and I'm sure he touched everyone that he knew in a special way. I will remember Rich as a man who had solid character, kindness and a positive outlook on life. In my dealings with him there were never negative vibes in his manner and in this world that is something to be cherished. He will be surely missed. God Bless you Rich: Husband, Father, Submarine Warrior

I am sorry to hear about Rich. From the E-mails you sent (thanks for that), I know he tried really hard to beat this cancer. My father passed last year 3 months after finding out that he had lung cancer so I know Rich put up a good fight. He was my "Buddy" when I got hired at BAE and he showed me how to do many things at work to do my job. We also car pooled occasionally from Laural to Aspen Hill office. He talked about his family in Canada very often. He was a friend. He will be missed.

To Rich's Family. I have known Rich for seven years. He was a co worker with me at TSA. We traveled together for about a year in 2002. In that year I had become friends with a extraordinary individual. The most caring, selfless person I knew. Always there to help, thats what Rich did, he helped everyone he came across that needed assistance in one way or another. In Alaska where we worked for 4 months we came to know a women in her early twenties, just making it with two children. She was sick and was taking medication and could not afford to buy it that month. As we all could imagine , Rich was right there, we spoke about it between ourselves and decided to buy her the medication she needed. That was Rich. He had this amazing calming affect on people. I will miss his big smile. He was a friend's friend, he never let me down, always there to help. As many of you out there, I will miss Rich too. My deepest sympathies go to his family and many friend's. Curt and Family

I wish to express my condolences in the loss of Rich. As a Word Coordinator I worked with Rich at BAE Systems. He was the most caring, a very kind man and very easy to work for. Over the years I typed reports for Rich and enjoyed working with him. There should be more people in the world like Rich. I never saw him angry always with a kind word or smile even when the times were a little tough. I am very sorry I did not hear about his passing. My husband and I would have attended the viewing or the funeral. He will be greatly missed. We know that Rich is not suffering now and although it is going to be a difficult time for you and your son we know that Rich is at peace and in heaven with his daughter. May God Bless you and your family and may he give you peace and comfort to carry on. Rich was one of the people I missed when I retired from BAE. He was a real Gentlemen. In Sympathy, Gerti Mercer

Dear Nancy, Scotty and Rich's family We send our condolences across the water and we are all thinking of you at this sad time as you lay your loved one Rich to rest, even now as I'm typing this. (We are just back from hols so sorry for the delay) We hope and pray that you will be comforted in the love and support of those around you and the memories you have of your precious time together. A psalm we sing at funerals is Psalm103 and I'll type out verses 13-17 so you don't need to look it up.. As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord's love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children's children..with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts." You are very much in our thoughts and prayers, lots of love Uncle John, Auntie Chrissie, Marina, Peter & John, Joan, Dave, Annetta, Beth & Rosie.

Hi, as i well imagine you must be ending a very long day. I know there is instructions but I am just not that computer educated so please forward this message to Nancy, Scottie and Rich's family. I am so sorry I couldn't be there today, my heart was.I would have liked to hear the tributes that I am sure were said about Rich and his life.Nancy I hope for you and yours that the peace will soon come. Maybe not today and I am sure the thought seems unthinkable right now but someday in a quiet time, I know you and Scott will sit down and talk about his Dad and through the good memories you will both remember the love he had for you both and it will make you smile.they say time is a healer and we can all somehow in our own life know this true meaning from what we have experienced. For now all I can say is be patient, open your hearts, cry your tears and one day it will come and you will remember those times, songs , places ,conversations, and you will be thankful for sharing those moments with Rich and realize he will always be with you. In our prayers as always Deb

an e-mail from a shipmate of Rich to the family....Thank you taking the time to communicate about Rich. I served with him at NOTU - we were missile test conversion shift Chiefs and either I relieved him (for the shift) or he relieved me. and then for a few years worked with him at bae systems. To say he is a great friend and one of the most reasonable people I know is a understatement. Rich spoke quietly, did not get excited about the less then intelligence things coworkers or while in the Navy people did - just thought about how to fix the problem and moved on. . an e-mail to the family from a shipmate of Rich...... Certainly the words I can say will not even touch of his loss but be assured as a Navy Chief, a good friend and just a good person - he touched lifes of people that you will never know . But know he touched my life and will be missed. Sorry Ray Mena

I recall a day many years ago, one evening just after the sun set and the sky became dark, Rich and I were walking along the beach in Coco Beach Florida. He was looking up to the heavens and said there goes another one, I asked another one what. He responded a satellite, Rich although he rarely talked about his time in the navy, he went on to tell me of the times while on surface ships, he would go out on deck late at night to look at the stars and watch the satellites travel past. Thinking of Rich and that moment we shared, it took me several years looking at the night sky to locate a satellite on my own. While most people that know of Rich's service in the navy they associate him with the sea, I have since then and always will associate Rich with the heavens.
