Dear Pam, I had the pleasure of working with Bill for the 2 1/2 years that I spent in LS. His deadpan expression belied his witty sense of humour and he always had time for a quick word when encountered in the hallway, long after I had left the department. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family at this most difficult time. Take care and keep in touch. God Bless.

Bill was the very first person to train myself when I joined IBM. We worked together for 2 years and every day I looked forward to coming into work because it was always a fun time to be with Bill and I loved his sense of humour. He was a great friend/coach and to this day, I feel his words of wisdom and guidance still resonate within me in my current role. Pam, my condolences to you and your family.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Bill. For so long he was always here at the office. Sometimes I didn't think he ever went home because he was always in early with his Tim's coffee and still there when I left at night. I miss him most when I come in to the office and he's not there. He was like the rock we all depended on so much. I miss his funny sense of humour and how he was always there for guidance. He always made time for everyone. He was a great friend and will be remembered fondly. To Pam and family, I extend my sincere sympathies. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Bill, knowing you changed my life, and the lives of my family. My mother has never been so happy or smiled so much. I wish you didn't have to go, but if there is one thing we are forced to understand in life, its death. I am glad you were here for the time you were so you could touch our lives the way you have. I am so glad you are no longer suffering. Thank you for being you. I will NEVER forget you. Love Ryan Your Number 1 step son!

We were saddened and shocked to read of Bill's passing in the Toronto Star. We send personal hugs to Pam and the family with perhaps a word of comfort in the following poem by A.L.Frink... The Rose Still Grows Beyond The Wall Near a shady wall a rose once grew, Budded and blossomed in God's free light: Watered and fed by morning dew, Shedding its sweetness day and night. As it grew and blossomed fair and tall, Slowly rising to loftier height, It came to a crevice in the wall, Through which there shone a beam of light. Onward it crept with added strength With never a thought of fear or pride, It followed the light through the crevice length, And unfolded itself on the other side. The light, the dew, the broadening view Were found the same as they were before. And it lost itself in beauties new. Breathing its fragrance more and more. Shall claim of death cause us to grieve, And make our courage faint or fall? Nay, let us faith and hope receive, The rose still grows beyond the wall. Scattering fragrance far and wide, Just as it did in days of yore. Just as it did on the other side, Just as it will forevermore. By A.L.Frink From Lew & Laura and family, Tillsonburg, Ontario

Dear Pam, I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I have many fond memories of our time working together in Education at IBM. Bill had a wonderful dry sense of humour, a sincere desire to help, and was a great person to work with. I'll always fondly remember the many debates and discussions he and Bryan and Cosetta and I had - knowing he was constantly looking out for all of our best interests. I can't begin to know how you miss him, but wish you and your family all the best in this very difficult time.

Bill you are missed. It was always a pleasure seiing you in the office in the peace of the early morning. I still utter a 'good morning Bill' when I arrive. "To die, to sleep; No more; and by a sleep to say we end The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks That flesh is heir to — 'tis a consummation Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep; To sleep, perchance to dream. Ay, there's the rub, For in that sleep of death what dreams may come, When we have shuffled off this mortal coil," Buddy - we SHALL meet again, for the spirit is everlasting

I won't say Bill will be missed because he has been greatly missed already. He was a valuable resource and business mentor in the office and I regret that he wouldn't accept more of my invitations to book the occasional fresh air meeting and share more of his insights and experiences. I greatly appreciated his caustic wit and if there is any fairness in his untimely passing wherever he is now the grass will be green, the temperature warm, and he'll already have 4 or 5 rounds in. My sincerest condolences Pam to you and all Bill's loved ones...... Bill

Dear Pam: When I learned of Bill's illness, I really struggled with the question of why bad things happen to good people. He was such a terrific guy. A gentle soul with a wicked sense of humour. That's how I will remember him. I will miss how he ribbed me about whatever was going on in my life. His views on the pointlessness of long distance running, his tips on commuting on our crazy highways and his insistence that the foolproof diet only required switching from Regular to Lite beer never failed to make me laugh.
