Our sincere, heart felt condolences to Dawna and the kids. I had the fortunate opportunity to know Ray while working with Eastern Construction at the Darlington & Pickering sites. A friendship was formed and the dining started. Ray loved to laugh even though we plodded through the arduous tasks of billings, changes and contract agreements. Ray would always negotiate for a fair solution. A gentleman, a great BBQ chef, carpenter, and one of the good guys, who will be dearly missed.

Dear Dawna and family, My sincere condolences to all of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you, especially today. I just wanted to let you know that Ray made such an impression on all of us here on 6F for his determination and his fighting spirit. I know that his passing will leave a huge hole in your family. I chuckle when I remember that first day I looked after him when he commented on my perfume, and Dawna, you accused him of still flirting. Then he went on to admit that in fact he was. Also, I want to thank you for your thoughtfulness in providing us with that excellent coffee maker. We really appreciate it. All the best to all of you. Anne Berentschot RPN 6F

We send our Prayers and Heartfelt condolences. I still enjoy my memories of spending many good times with Ray. Sunday afternoons shooting our pellet guns in his backyard in Bridgeport ON. Camping with our youth-group in Algonquin Park, and Ray showing me how fast his DATSUN 240z could go as we pass an OPP cruiser. Have comfort in the knowledge that sunshine will return to the lives of those who grieve. Andy and Beth Schilling Kitchener, ON

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. I worked with Ray for a number of years as he assisted my department in a variety of challenges relating to security work at the nuclear plants. I enjoyed his honest and frank approach to our business and greatly respected his input. Perhaps, most importantly , we shared a similar humour, even during some periods when I knew he felt "under the weather". Respectfully, Neil weaver.

It seems like yesterday when Ray joined the Architectural Dept at Hydro. I remember him talented, dedicated and always professional. When we saw you both at Mick and Irena's a few years ago it was nice to remember the old gang. After the Dept. disbanded he was one of those I could always count on for advice and a friendly natter. Krysia and I are deeply saddened at his early retirement. He will be in our thought's. A truly nice guy and a genuinely good human being... gone too soon.

Please accept our sincere condolence for your loss from the Borden family . May god bless you. I had the pleasure of meeting Ray 30 years ago, he joined our Construction Engineering Course after the first semester. It seemed that Ray had already figured out what was important to him, family and education. He was a couple years my senior and I like many others in our course looked up to him over the remaining two years in college. The entire class became like brothers. But I was even more fortunate because out of our class two students came to Bruce County to work for Ontario Hydro. Ray was one and I was the other. I worked with Ray for a number of years in the Planning Department before he got a well deserved promotion. I can say with 100 % certainty that it was or loss at the Bruce Site and Head Office's gain. I enjoyed his honest and frank business approach and greatly appreciated all his guidance and direction. May your joyous memories of Ray be a comfort to you at this time. Respectfully, Russ Borden & Family

Real shock! I was reading the Saturday morning Toronto Star and I came across his obituary. I immediately sent an email to Michael Stephens who sent me an email reply right away. I'm the oldest of the three and I retired from OPG close to 5 years ago. I knew Ray for over 25 years. He was the Head office estimator and I was based on site at the Pickering Nuclear Station. Currently I'm working in Oakville on a contract basis. When he made the move out East from Oakville, Ray, myself and Mick met quite often especially Ray and myself as Mick was overseas most of the time. Ray was also my neighbour at work in the Pickering East Office Complex for quite some time working for Gary Pask. We helped each other in the estimating field as we had a lot of things in common. Basically there were only two estimators left at OPG, Ray and myself. Ray was an extremely nice person. Always ready to help, no matter what. I was about to contact him lately as I'm working on a similar project that he was in charge of before I retired, namely the Training Centre in Pickering. Today, his name was mentioned at the 11am church service at St John the Evangelist RC church in Whitby. A true friend, a great loss, Herr Koepke as I used to call him (I'm of German origin way back myself). We'll keep him in our thoughts and prayers now. We shall never forget.

My pleasure in knowing and working with Ray was very brief. I got to know him last fall after he called me to provide assistance. Ray’s competencies in his field were obvious from the start and one could not help but enjoy working with him. Over the course of a few weeks we became close enough that Ray and I talked about his fight with cancer since my oldest daughter just completed her doctorate in molecular oncology. Ray never let what he was facing change a relationship. What a loss for all that knew him. I wish his family courage in their grief the same courage that Ray always exhibited. He will be forever in our memories.
