Obituary of Arthur Edward Patterson
ARTHUR EDWARD PATTERSON
Peacefully, in his 98th year, on Monday, August 4, 2008, at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Oshawa (formerly Oshawa General Hospital). Predeceased by his adored wife Doris (nee West). Survived by his loving son Laurie (Reet), his grandsons Lauren (Donna) and Les (Kristi), his great grandchildren Kade, Devyn, Autumn and Sydnee, and his sisters Kathleen and Jean. He was predeceased by his siblings James, Noreen, Jack and Claire. Art attended Ontario Agricultural College in Guelph after which he operated the Patterson Dairy in Whitby. For health reasons he sold the dairy in the early 1940’s and then contributed to the war effort at Duplate in Oshawa. After WW II he attended Radio College of Canada and operated Patterson Electronics for more than 40 years. Art was a loyal and long standing member of Composite Lodge A.F. & A.M. #30 G.R.C. and recently received "70 years a Mason" and "60 years a Past-Master" pins. He was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In his lifetime, Art was active in the Kinsmen and the Rotary Clubs in Whitby, as well as the Whitby Senior’s Centre. He was a devoted member of St. Mark’s United Church since the early 1930’s. The family of Art Patterson will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, "McDermott Panabaker Chapel", 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Wednesday, August 13th from 7 – 9 p.m. and on Thursday, August 14th from 12 noon – 1 p.m. in St. Mark’s United Church, 201 Centre Street South in Whitby. A Service to Celebrate his life will be held in the Church at 1 p.m. with Reverend Brian Gee officiating. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Albert.
