I offer my heartfelt condolences to all of Mrs. Chellew's loved ones. I had Mrs. Chellew as an english teacher at PPHS in the '90s. She taught our class Romeo and Juliet and really turned me on to Shakespeare; to this day it is my favourite Shakespearean play. She was an inspiring teacher and a wonderful person. Thinking of her family and friends at this difficult time.

To Peter and The Girls. There are no words to express how you must be feeling, only whispers of caring. I cherish the friendship and memories of Gail. She was part of the original bridge group. I enjoyed our chats about sewing, gardening and our kids. I was always amazed at how Gail could host Music Banquets and have everything in place. I am confident the memories will bring comfort to all of you at this time of sorrow.

Dear Chellews, I'm so sorry that you have lost Gail prematurely. She was, as you know, a wonderful woman who loved her family and her teaching career with deep passion and joy. She was a wonderful mentor to me as a young teacher and I will always remember Friday lunches when we planned our lessons and laughed about 'zaney' answers on tests, and appalling grammar mistakes. She made me a better teacher and I will always be grateful to her for that as well as for her many kindnesses and friendship. Blessings to you all.

Hello Peter, I was saddened to hear of Gail's passing last Tuesday. I will always remember fondly the bridge marathons at the cottage and all those Thanksgiving dinners at the school house. Please accept my deepest sympathies. I wanted very much to be present at the funeral but we are away and won't be back until the end of the month. Perhaps I can contact you once we return. Dom

Mrs. Chellew, you were my favourite teacher at Port Perry High School. The lessons you taught are ones I've used every day to succeed. I know you loved your family very much, and I know how proud you were of your daughters as you spoke of them often. My thoughts are with them during this difficult time. I'm sorry I can't be there in person to say goodbye. You will be missed.

My heart goes out to Mr. Chellew, Megan, Erin and Ceara at this time. Mrs. Chellew was by far the greatest and most influential teacher I ever had, her passion in teaching was evident in every class. She was also a great neighbour and drove me in to school many times after I missed my bus or when it was a snow day. May your memory live on every time we put pen to paper and insert an apostrophe into a word; because I know I say thank you each time I do!

It is such sad news to know of Mrs. Chellew's passing. She made a mark on my life, as my Grade 12 English teacher as well as through being colleagues with my Mom. Through supporting her husband, students, staff (my Mom) and her own children at school, she showed us her strength and sensitivity, many times. She taught me how to show support, how to be present, how to appreciate poetry although I am terrible at it and how to fully commit to responsibility without losing my own sense of individuality. Her passing is our loss. My thoughts are with Mr. Chellew, Meghan, Erin and Siera. Heather Danter
