Giacomo & I were so sad to hear that Jane died, we grieve with you & your family.
We met Jane when we were neighbours on Briar Hill Ave in Toronto around 1962. Our children, especially Maria, used to play with our daughter Margot because they were the same age.
Jane was an accomplished concert pianist & I recall driving her to a concert that she was presenting at Providence Villa, it was dark being fall AND the power was out all over our neighbourhood, I drove very carefully because there were no lights at the intersections, she would watch for cars on the right while I looked on the left & ahead. We got there safe & sound she was on time for her concert, I do not remember how she got home, maybe Jean picked her up.
She was also a great cook, we did some canning & made jams together & wondered what fools we were with 3 children, I guess we were both full of energy. She had such imagination...
I started a small Book Club, 6 friends. we met at each other house for lunch once a month -maybe at this point TMI, but I have to tell you that because it was one's turn to present the book, we tried to follow the theme of the book, in her case it was The Dream of the Red Chamber; when she opened the door she looked so BEAUTIFUL, she wore a kimono & had done her hair in the Geisha style, she had decorated the living/dining Rm with a lot of oriental objets d'Art & cooked & served chinese food that we ate with chopsticks!
I could go on with my memories of Jane in the years when they lived on a gentelmen's farm & she redecorated a silo turning it into a windmill, she rode horses then too.
Then there was the divorce...she met her 2nd husband Raymond. We didn't see each other for a few years though we kept in touch. We reconnected, came to visit them at their stone house farm & met got to know Ray, I still remember how he loved to garden & made 3 flower beds each a different colour! Then on Siesta Key, Florida...I could go on forever.
We want to express our most heartfelt condolences to you Ray & your family: Christopher, Maria & Marc & thei spouses & children also her step children & their spouses & children.
She will be greatly missed by all her many friends. She had so many very different interests, she was wonderful at photography too. She was so talented.
We are so fortunate to have her for a friend for half a century!
Much Love
Irene & Giacomo
