I had the pleasure of working with Larry this past tax season. While I may not have known him for a long time it took only a few conversations to see what a great man Larry Hanna truly was. Larry was kind and thoughtful, knowledgable and wise. He was always willing to lend me and our other coworkers a helping hand whenever we needed it. Larry was a fine man who greeted everyone with a charismatic smile and a cheerful attitude even on days when there was not much to smile about. He had a healthy sense of humour that was appreciated by his clients and coworkers alike.
My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
Rest in peace, Larry.

Words cannot express how saddened we are to hear of Larry's passing. I worked with Larry for many many years and know how he loved a good laugh so a few years ago, when he told me what happened in his van... the story was retold at his retirement (only modified a little). I hope it brings a smile to all those who were close to Larry. It goes like this...
One morning just days before his retirement… Lawrence H was all wound up… That’s what he called it when the frustration and emotion of trying to do his job on a shoestring and a prayer… got to him a little. He was all wound up and heading across the causeway back to town in his white beauty … and then it happened… The throttle stuck wide open and the truck was picking up speed. Now Lawrence H was known to be a little tight with a nickel and his truck was a bit of a beater and he usually drove pretty slow to save gas ya know. Some would even call him pokey. But now it was really picking up speed. He had never had it going this fast! The body panels were flapping in the wind and the speedometer was quivering and way over around 140. His heart was pounding like it was going to jump out of his chest! His knee was bouncing like a jack hammer. Lawrence cried out Oh God! Funny how he had named the only man who could save him now. And then… his knee, that nervous bouncing knee… struck the ignition key and the engine shut down and the truck slowed to a stop. … By the time he got calmed down and he had smoked 4 cigarettes, and his son the mechanic had lubricated and freed the stuck linkage, he was ready to go home. There was a breakfast the next day with all the other supervisors so he’d have to get up early. When he arrived for breakfast the next morning, everyone was just getting up to leave. He was late again… stuck parking brake. JE
Rest in peace Larry. You will be missed.
Let us pray for peace in our hearts at this difficult time.

Very sorry to hear this news. My condolences to Larry's family. I worked with Larry for many, many years. He was a mentor to me in my first few years as a Supervisor. He was always giving me advice on how to save and invest money as well, but he probably did that with most people. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him....
