This is sad news to hear of Eric's passing. As many have already said he was a true gentleman, a great leader of the Calvary Squadron and all round good person. He was also very generous with his advice and insight. I add my condolences to Carolyn and his family and the GGHG family.

Dear Carolyn & Family,
We were very saddened to hear of Eric's passing. John has fond memories of a "real gentle man" who he met approximately twenty years ago when he started to ride with the GGHG Cavalry Squadron.
We both remember Eric as a an excellent raconteur and just a fun guy to be around, especially at some of the galas held through the riding club.
Our deepest sympathies during these difficult and sad times. As each day passes may the memories of happy times spent with Eric put a smile on your face and in your heart.
Our thoughts are with you and your family,
John Simons & Anne Amitay

To Carolyn and Brian,
We were both saddened when we heard of Eric's passing. Your grief, at this time, should be less heavy as people remember what a great gentleman he was. His love for the Regiment and the riding club was always evident by the sheer joy he demonstrated for both. He will be remembered by all of us, who rode under him, as an excellent Escort Commander.
Keith and Lynda Craig

Dear Carolyn:
We are sorry to hear of Eric's passing. We both remember both of you as very good friends and have often reminisced about the both of you, always with smiles on our faces. That wonderful dinner in Oshawa recently with the both of you was a great memory for both of us.
Eric gave so much to the Regiment, his unflagging energy in getting the Mounted Squadron ready for all those escorts, many of which were for Royalty. The leadership and humour he brought to every mounted parade. During centennial year he brought so much glory to our Regiment with all those rides throughout southern Ontario in 1967.
Eric only had the very best interests of the Regiment in his heart, and gave so many of us young riders the will to continue in the traditions of the Regiment...he was "NULLI SECUNDUS".
Again...Carolyn, both Linda and I are saddened atthis time, and wish both you and Brian the strength to get through this difficult time. Sadly we are out-of-country and not due back until early May....know that are thoughts are with you.
Linda & David

Condolences from Marilyn and David Friesen. We remember Eric from the early days at old Denison armoury, now 50 years ago. Eric was always a favourate at our very active social events, and introduced many innovative and nearly impossible games for our entertainment. His sly and platful smile was a warning sign that he had some scheme underway, whether at the armoury, or further afield, with the Cavalry Squadron.
For many years Eric was the leader who made the Cavalry work for the Horse Guards. As OCCav Sqn, he used his humour and determination, to inspire the fellow riders to produce a unique organization, unmatched anywhere else in Canada.
His fellow Horse Guards remember his service and will miss his friendship.
David and Marilyn
