Obituary of William Rodger Stephens
Passed away suddenly on June 15th 2015 at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, at age 68.
Residing in Muskoka with his dog and best friend Chester, raised in Port Perry with his siblings Richard, Heather, Russell, Robert and Marilyn, Rodger spent his working years as a concrete inspector at Ontario Hydro, before retiring to his ice huts and trap lines.
Rodger is sorely missed by his children Wyatt (Annette), Wayne (Hank), Eve, Shannon (Sean) and Kyle (Krissy). Loved by his grandchildren Sheldon, David, Joshua, Avery and Erika (remembered as their beloved Santa Grandpa). Rodger was also blessed with a huge extended family and many dear friends.
Rodger's family will receive friends at the upper level of the Royal Canadian Legion, Port Perry (484 Bay Street) on Friday June 19th from 6-8pm. In celebration of Rodger's life, we ask you to join us in reminiscing about the funny moments and sharing fond memories of him. Bring a photo, tell a tale, make us laugh. If you can't come or aren't ready to share in public, please write us something that we can hang up for the evening or read on your behalf. Your memories are important to us. Email rodgersgonefishing@gmail.com and we'll take care of the rest. From 8-10pm we'll continue informally with drinks, food and Dad's favourite music.
In lieu of flowers, we welcome donations to be made by cheque through the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, "McDermott Panabaker Chapel", 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) to the Make a Wish Foundation or to the Southlake Regional Health Centre Medical Cardiology Unit.
