Dear Judy: We were shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Don. I didn't know anything about it until Mon. Sept. 26th so were unable to attend the visitation or funeral which we certainly would have done had we known. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this sad time. Both Ken and I thought so much of Don and we have lots of happy memories of the times we spent together. We truly valued your friendship. If there is anything at any time that we can do for you Judy I trust that you will call us.

To the Mitchell family, I grew up with the Sportsland/Pizza Delight baseball family that Mr Mitchell was always a big part of. He was fun on and off the field. When I was a teenager I had the opportunity to work for him and even after many insists on his behalf I could never come to call him Don, I respected him too much not to call him DOn. He was a great man man with a huge heart. I send all my thoughts and prayers to your family at this time. I know he will always be with you and watching over you

What a sad note, I just heard the news. Don was a great fellow to know. He bought his Poulan Pro tractor from me long ago mainly because it was painted in the colours of his beloved Hamilton Tiger Cats! I always got such a kick out of my visits with him! I'll never forget the infectious smile and the twinkle in his eye. Keep on smilin' Gitch, I'll miss ya!! Norm Sheppard & Cecilia Jensen, Sackville NB.

Only met Don while playing ball with the seniors in Oshawa. Had the pleasure of playing with him on Tues, & in Bowmanville . He played in the Tuesday league this year, so he couldn't join us on diamond 4 , but he usually stopped by after his game to say hi. He was a lot of fun & enjoyed life & ball immensely. I was lucky enough to be on his email list & enjoyed all of his jokes & quips he sent my way. He was a special human being whom I wish I had know longer. I'm so sorry for your loss , but you were fortunate to have had him as long as you did.

We are both very saddened to have heard today of Don's passing. For many years it was my pleasure to have played slo-pitch baseball with him in Port Perry---he made every game a joy to participate in because of his competitiveness but also his fair play. He was also a wealth of knowledge during our post-game social hours and I always admired his intelligence. To Judy and the family we extend our deepest sympathies. Hit a home run in heaven, Don!

Dear Judy, Dan and Jennifer, we are so sorry for your loss and our thoughts are with you. Don (Jocko) will be so missed, for his smile, his laugh which we heard so often, his sense of humour, often sharp and always on target. A great neighbour, schoolmate, travel companion and most of all friend. We will miss him.

Good bye old Friend. Your humour and intellect will be sorely missed. I hope you enjoy the great ball game in the sky as much as you enjoyed it here. Judy, Dan and Jennifer you were very lucky to have such a great husband and father. Keep your chins up that's what he would have wanted. I will miss you, Mitch. Donna says to tell you that her white wine is safe for a while now.

Dear Judy, Daniel and Jennifer: Don was a special friend and business partner for many years. I will miss him dearly but am comforted by memories of his humour and quick descriptions about spend-thrift politicians. We shared many special thoughts about our dear families and motorized toys. Don has rounded third base and is safely home with his Maker. God bless him and you.
