Obituary of Kathleen Dorrell

KATHLEEN DORRELL (nee Wright) B.A. ~ Died at peace in the early hours of August 5, 2010, two days after a family celebration for Kathleen and Dalton's 64th Wedding Anniversary. Born on March 2, 1924 to Isobel (Rutledge) and Carl Wright, she is predeceased by her parents and sister Pearl Bilbey. She is survived by her devoted husband Dalton, her daughters Nancy (Jim Carnaghan), Leanne (Kevin Moody), Heather (Grant McLaughlin), Janis and sister Dorothy (Jim Marlow). Nana will be missed by her grandchildren Michael Dickson, Laura and Emily Wills, Carla and Abby McLaughlin, Caitlin, Remy, Joe and Mac McCoy. Kathleen was the epitome of the woman who successfully combined marriage, family and a career, and still had time and energy for friends and community. She embraced her role as teacher and keenly supported the arts. Travelling, knitting, shopping and of course bridge, were her passions. A Celebration of her life will take place at the Blackstock United Church on Sunday, August 15th with visitation at 12 p.m. and the service to follow at 1 p.m. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made by cheque through the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) to the Blackstock United Church.
