I just learned today of the passing of Dave. I had just visited his store last month and had concluded a "deal" with him. I consider myself fortunate as it had been quite some time since my last visit. I did not know that Dave was ill and had learned that he had passed the store on to Fraser Cooke, a very capable man in his own right. I telephoned Dave today to inquire about his interest in a recent acquisition and was both shocked and saddened to hear of his untimely passing. He was an outstanding man and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him. My deepest and most heartfelt sympathy, Sincerely, Ryan Sellick

I had the pleasure of working for Dave at the Grenadier over two summers and he was truly the kindest and most supportive employer, and I am truly appreciative for the opportunity to have worked for such a great person.

I am shocked and saddened by Dave's untimely death. He ran the best Military Bookshop in the nation and was always displayed a gracious and outgoing attitude. Many times I've dropped into the shop and he always had some new book or piece of militaria he wanted to share. My condolences to his family.

Dear Janice & Stephen, I am very sadden by the news of David, as he was always such a lovely and kind gentleman, I fondly remember him as a business client and as a friend. My prayers go to you and your family at this time. His contributions to this town will never be forgotten by us and his spirit will always be remembered by his fondness of the military and war memorial library building. Betty, Ed and family.

I feel very fortunate that Dave and I were friends for the past 40 years. He was the kind of friend that everyone would love to have - kind, honest, intelligent, caring and liked by everyone who knew him. I had the good fortune to work with as well as travel with Dave across Canada for many CPGA Championships..and even to Great Britain for some of the British Opens. I will miss Dave but know that Heaven is a little bit brighter because Dave is now there.

I had the great privilege of working with Dave in his amazing store The Grenadier. Helpful and resourceful in every way to all of his friends and customers. A man with a great history who was so humble many people knew not of his accomplishments and connections. His integrity and honesty were always present. He has customers and friends from around the world who honour and respect him for his commitment to perserving Militaria History. He was well loved and will be greatly missed. There is a Condolence Book set up at the store at 269 Queen Street for anyone who wishes to sign it or drop off a card.
