People often find it difficult to say a few words of condolence when they meet the bereaved family after a death. It is easier to express your feelings and sympathy by writing a condolence letter. You need to communicate in simple and few words that you are thinking of them and their loved one who has just passed away.

A condolence letter is meant to pay respect and tribute to the deceased and comfort the bereaved family in their journey of grief. The family may preserve your letter and read it again.

1. Try To Write The Letter By Hand

While typing comes easily to many people, a hand-written condolence letter has a personal touch that has healing effect on the grieving family. If possible, send an appropriately worded sympathy card with the letter to enhance the effect.

2. A Short Letter Is Better

It is better to keep the condolence letter short and simple. It is useful to avoid complex verbiage and express your feelings sincerely. Take care to ensure that the written words have a soothing impact and do not upset the receiver because bereaved people are emotionally sensitive.

The pain due to the loss of the loved one is very personal for the bereaved family. Your letter is an effort to convey that you are with them in their difficult times and feel the loss.

3. Pour Your Heart

A condolence letter should avoid making reference to how the person passed away. It is to sympathize with the family in a sincere way expressing your heartfelt feelings. When ending the letter, express your concern for them in a few thoughtful words.
