If I Have Pre-Planned My Funeral at One Funeral Home, Can I Switch to a Different One?

Pre-Planning your funeral provides you with the peace of mind, knowing your family will have access to your end-of-life wishes and desires. You can rest assured knowing that your funeral service will go the way you intended it, rather than putting your family in a position to have to guess in a difficult time, during the grieving process.

If you have already pre-planned your funeral you are one step ahead. Although, circumstances sometimes do change and life can shift you from one place to another. If this is the case for you and you have already selected one funeral home and for a particular reason you have decided you are interested in another funeral home, a transfer is absolutely possible for you. Whether you have moved or simply prefer another home after seeing it, this can be done. The important thing to remember is that these are your pre-need arrangements and when you decide on a change, the arrangements follow suit.

 The Transfer Process

When you originally set up a pre-plan arrangement you chose a funeral home to move forward with this plan. At a time of a transfer request, you need to inform the original funeral home of your changes and they will conduct all the necessary paperwork needed for the alternate funeral home. There is absolutely no penalty to do so. All that is required of you is a signature for your review and approval.

If you have already pre-paid for your funeral or have a payment arrangement, the funds stay where the original plan has been made, until after the death has occurred. At that time the money will be transferred to the funeral home holding the funeral service.

If you have any questions or concerns, or you would like to speak to a funeral director about a pre-need arrangement, you can contact, Wagg Funeral Home, here.
