The holidays can be a trying time for everyone, but especially for those that are mourning the death of a loved one. It would indicate that our memories of them and the traditions associated with holidays drive us to miss them the most; as a result, the holiday season is when their absence hits us the hardest.

How to Remember a Loved One During the Holiday Season

Wagg Funeral Home believes that establishing new traditions is an excellent way to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed away and find comfort and solace throughout the stressful holiday season.

1. Light a Candle to Honor Them

Remembering a departed loved one through lighting a memorial candle is a touching and consoling act. To show that you're thinking of them this Christmas season, pick up a candle or table lamp and leave it burning. The candle could be scented with a loved one's preferred fragrance, and you can personalize it with a photo or other mementos.

2. Design A Unique Christmas Tree Decoration

Whether you buy one or make one, it's nice to have a personalized ornament to memorialize a loved one on display every year. The ornament could symbolize your bond or a reminder of something you both enjoy. The decoration could be made using simple household items. Add a photo or a personal message to the decoration. The ornament will be a pleasant remembrance whenever the tree is set up.

3. Make A Christmas Tree Or A Wreath In Remembrance

A memorial wreath or Christmas tree can be a touching way to honor the memory of a loved one who has passed away. Ornaments, ribbons in their favorite colors, pictures, and other mementos can all be used to adorn the wreath or tree. Put the Christmas tree or wreath in a designated spot. As a result, everyone will be able to take pleasure in the memorial object and reflect upon the past this holiday season.

4. Prepare Their Preferred Holiday Dish

Include a loved one's go-to or specialty dish in your holiday menu. This could be an item for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. After making a toast to your departed loved one, have each guest recall a significant moment or story they share about them. An additional plate at the dinner table can represent their continued presence in your thoughts and future celebrations.
