How Much Does A Cremation Cost?

The final cremation cost for a funeral and cremation can fluctuate significantly based on factors including the location of the event, the type of funeral home or cremation provider used, and the additional options selected by the family. From a few hundred dollars for a basic direct cremation to hundreds of dollars for elaborate arrangements, the cost of the cremation and any additional services you would like to go along with it can vary widely.

How Cremation Cost Is Influencing Disposition Preferences

In Canada, cremation is quickly gaining popularity as a means of final disposition. As other crematoriums operate to meet rising client demand, cremation costs may decrease further. The average customer who chooses cremation will save even more money because cremation already costs far less than a traditional funeral and burial.

If you have questions about cremation costs or procedures, the staff at Wagg Funeral Home is ready to answer them. The cost of a cremation can rise quickly if additional services are chosen, so discussing your alternatives with our funeral director is essential.

Types Of Cremations

There are four primary types of cremation, each with its own set of prerequisites:

  • Cremation With A Traditional Service—One option for cremation is a traditional burial service, when the deceased's body is buried in a casket and mourners pay their respects. Remains are cremated and given back to the family.
  • Cremation With A Memorial Service- There is a memorial service after cremation when the urn containing the ashes is shown. With cremation, however, neither the casket nor the viewing is required if the family desires.
  • Cremation Without A Ceremony (Direct Cremation)- If you choose direct cremation, there will be no services or viewings, and the body will not be embalmed before cremation. As soon as a person dies, their remains are cremated. The other approaches are both more complicated and expensive.
  • Cremation With The Body Being Donated To Science - Some individuals choose to contribute their entire body to science, in which case the cremation is handled by the organization specializing in scientific study. These groups arrange and pay for cremations when their research and analysis are complete. As a result of the high demand for human organs and tissues for scientific study, cremation is often the only viable choice.

We at Wagg Funeral Home are available any day of the week at any time to answer questions about cremation cost or our services. You can call us at 905-985-2171 or send us a message through this Online Form, and we will contact you soon.
