What is a Green Burial?

Funeral ceremonies have undergone quite an evolution over the years. Traditional burials are the most common among people. These are followed by the newer, lesser-known cremations and green burials.  It is difficult to have complete information about these latest alternatives if you are new to them. At Wagg Funeral Home, we help people plan green burials, and here is some information about them.

Basics of a Green Funeral

This is a completely eco-friendly process involving no negative impact on nature. It includes burying a non-embalmed body, free from formaldehyde directly into the earth. Biodegradable caskets or shrouds made of environment-friendly materials can be used to store the body before it is buried. As chemicals aren’t used to preserve the body, this process is comparatively a lot slower.

How To ‘Go Green’

When it comes to understanding the concept of natural funerals, it is better to do your research about the places that offer these services. Although it isn’t very mainstream, many facilities offer this option nowadays. You can also talk to the funeral director about the various packages and customizations they offer for the same. Make your choice according to your requirements and preferences.

Personalization’s

Although a green funeral is a new concept, it is versatile and you can personalize it. The locations for such burials are usually untouched natural landscapes with a lot of options to choose from. You can also replace the tombstone with a tree to make the process a whole lot greener. People also opt for various other biological ways of decomposition as an alternative to embalming.

This should give you a better idea about what all a natural/green burial is all about. We, at Wagg Funeral Home, offer comprehensive services and funeral arrangements for all your requirements. For more information feel free to contact us.
