Is Live Streaming the Future of Funeral Services?

Communications technology has advanced considerably over the years. It has infiltrated almost every field, allowing people to work from home, attend online classes, communicate with friends across the world. The COVID-19 pandemic showcased just how effective our communication systems could be. At Wagg Funeral Home, we have used this system to help people attend funerals without being physically present.

Benefits of Live-Streaming

The pandemic lockdown forced people to stay in their homes and limit traveling to emergencies or essential grocery runs. Many people were unable to attend funerals of loved ones because of these restrictions, which had a profound impact on them. Live streaming isn’t a complete replacement but it can help if there’s no other alternative. Some of the benefits of live streaming include:

  • No Delays – Many families are forced to delay funerals until all important members are present. There's no need to do that if the funeral is live-streamed. While some may still want to be present, most will prefer not traveling during these times.

  • Attending From a Distance – People from all over the world can attend a funeral. For example, if a family member is in London and the funeral is happening LA, they can still attend through a live stream. This wasn’t possible before and most people were forced to skip funerals because they couldn’t travel large distances.

  • Save Money – Live streaming can help you save money on funeral costs. You can choose a simpler and more affordable ceremony over something elaborate. There's no need to arrange for accommodation and transport of guests.

We believe that live streaming will remain popular even after the pandemic because it is very convenient.

If you want to know about our funeral or memorial services, don’t hesitate to contact us at Wagg Funeral Home today and we’ll be happy to help.
