Steps to Take to Pre-Plan Your Funeral Service

Funeral pre-planning has become popular in recent years. People like to idea of maintaining some control over how their funeral and burial is handled. At Wagg Funeral Home, we offer pre-planning services and can help clients set up a service that fits their preferences perfectly. Here’s a look at some of the steps you should take to plan:

1. Make a Will

The first thing to do is to make a will that handles all of your handles and assets. Most wills are read after the funeral is done so you don’t need to include any funeral plans in the document. Just make sure it wraps up your estate neatly so the family members left behind don’t need to worry about how to handle your assets.

2. Decide How to Handle the Remains

The next step is to decide how you want to handle the remains. If you have chosen cremation, the family will receive ashes to bury or scatter. You can also choose from different burial options like in-ground, above-ground, community, private, or mausoleum. Some also choose a natural burial, allowing their body to break down and return to the earth in the truest sense.

3. Pre-Payment for Memorials

Memorial services help family and friends heal, which is why many people invest a lot of effort into them. Consider pre-paying for the memorials so family members don't have to deal with the additional expense. This is a good option if you're the sole breadwinner and your loss will impact the family's finances significantly. You can pay the money directly to the funeral homes and let the director handle everything.

If you want to know about our funeral or memorial services, don’t hesitate to contact us at Wagg Funeral Home today and we’ll be happy to help.
